Spotlight on: Hello Weekend

Hello Weekend Au

“It takes a lot of blood, sweat and tears to go into business of any sort and really give it a good go amongst everything else we all have on our plates at the same time in the current landscape”

Bec and Sally are cousins who always knew they would start a business together, they just didn’t know what it would be, however, come April 2022 the colourful, fun, and authentically designed brand Hello Weekend Au was launched and they haven’t slowed since. Their little idea was dreamt up under a beach umbrella on the South Coast of NSW over their annual Christmas holiday, but the idea didn’t stay little for long.

After three years of extensive research, product testing, as well as general life and raising families, Hello Weekend Au found its feet and is now an established and sustainable small Australian business. Gone are the days of a beach bag or pouch that looks like your funny old aunt pulled out of her dusty attic, Hello Weekend provide on trend beach bags, totes, pouches, and even shopping bags that are made from recycled plastic bottles.

When asked what their favourite thing about their business was, Bec and Sal said that “the corse passion of the business is not to create further waste, but to use what we already have to reduce the environmental impact of the business and not cost the earth.

“Each bag is made from recycled plastic bottles cleaned up from customer waste, and once they wear out pop them into the soft plastics recycling bin at your nearest participating supermarket!” (Just a heads up, most Coles and Woolworths have big see through bins at the doors for soft plastics!)

The whole process of the Hello Weekend brand is circular. Every product is made from recycled plastics, and once they come to the end of their (very long) lives, they can be recycled and the whole process starts again! Bec and Sal say that they also get to love what they do everyday and each bag, tote, shopper and pouch has been designed and tested to suit the busy lives of working mums.

Bec and Sal were destined to be best friends. Coming from a family of 11 cousins they made up two of the three girls, so have always treated each other like sisters. Bec also said that Sally is a wiz in the kitchen, and who doesn’t need a business partner and best friend who can whip up a delicious treat like a pro!
